Timing is a major technique used in comedy movies which is used to add build up and helps the comedian deliver their lines better.  Along with timing, delivery is also a major technique which is used for comedy movies.   Directors have the important task of casting specific actors that have the important job of knowing how to deliver lines. The delivery of jokes and punchlines are something that the actor has to have a specific feeling for to be able to say the jokes or lines in a way to connect with the audience to make them laugh.

Marketing:

Comedy movies usually target people aged from 15-24. These people People from this age range are usually looking for a good laugh to enjoy their viewing experience. Usually, comedy movies will contain posters that are hectic and show a part of a story which makes the viewer question "how did they get here?" For movies such as 21 and Over, 21 Jump Street, and Let's Be Cops, all have a poster which contains a heavily packed image that shows a lot going on. This pulls the viewers in since they are intrigued d to figure out how in the story the main character or characters got to a certain point showing them that the movie will be jam packed with a funny/hectic story.

Grown Ups

The movie Grown Ups is about a group of childhood friends led by Adam Sandler's character "Lenny" who in present time has a family and a well paying job. The group's high school basketball coach passes away bringing the boys back together for his funeral. The group comes together again and plans a trip with all their families which makes the slapstick comedy filled with moments of the old group back together, this time with their wives and kids 30 years later. The group relives many memories and goes back to their days of being crazy teenage boys with no responsibilities but now they are not teenagers and the production brought in eyes from everyone ages 15-50. The older group of actors playing old friends brings back many older people to their younger ages with their groups of friends which is nostalgic for many people. The poster has the group of friends going down a waterslide laughing hysterically in a hectic/jam packed photo of all of them together. The fun and fresh colors and facial expressions is keen to bring in viewers from the fun looking movie.

21 Jump Street

The movie 21 Jump Street is about a pair of best friends who are polar opposites. The two came up in different ways as one of the friends was athletic and had friends growing up. The other was a fat kid who didn't really have friends growing up. Both met in police academy and lost their titles and respect after failing to read a drug dealers Miranda rights as they were celebrating their arrest. The two get sent to "Jump Street" where the pair must go undercover and act as high school students to find out who is the supplier of a major drug called WIFI and infiltrate the dealer in order to get some sort of respect back. The comedy poster is of the two jumping over a car guns a blazing with heavy smoke in the background. This pulls potential viewers in by how hectic the poster is and how the pair look funny because Jenko (Channing Tatum) looks very serious while Schmidt (Jonah Hill) looks very scared and out of place showing a comedic contrast between the two.
